What is an ethical hacker?

An Ethical Hacker is a person who performs penetration tests. He is an expert in computers and data networks whose role is to attack security systems on behalf of the owners with the intention of searching for and finding vulnerabilities acting in the same or at least similar way and using the same methods that a hacker would use with the intention of attack the system. Simply put, they breach and break into business systems to report vulnerabilities, rather than stealing or deleting it.

Penetration tests allow: assess vulnerabilities, analyze and categorize exploited weaknesses and provide recommendations based on the priorities of the organization and finally eliminate these vulnerabilities.

The benefits offered by Ethical Hacking are:

  • Give an overview of the vulnerabilities found to take action.
  • Evidence of inappropriate settings in installed applications.
  • Identify which systems are missing updates.
  • Reduce the time and effort required to face risky situations.

Ethical Hacking is a valuable tool for organizations seeking to protect the information hosted on their systems.
